Siloam Center for the Blind Holds Hyo-myeong Scholarship Awards Ceremony for the Second Half of the Year.

The Siloam Center for the Blind (Director/Kim Mikyoung) held a scholarship awards ceremony in its main auditorium on September 23rd to present scholarships worth 59M Korean Won to 20 students with visually impairment to nurture them as future leaders.

The center delivered a total of 20 scholarships out of 39 applicants who were selected first through document screening on July 31st and then interviews on August 7th.

Lee Min-ji (a senior in the Department of Social Welfare at Chung-Ang University) who received the Hyo-myeong Scholarship in the second half of the year said, “It is not shameful to fall but it is shameful to fall and not get up. I will not let fear of failure hold me back but take failure as an opportunity for growth. I thank all those who have supported me generously and I embrace myself to become the next generation of leaders in the society as Hyo-myeong Scholarship recipient.”

Rev. Kim Sun-Tae (Chair of Siloam Welfare Foundation for the Visually Handicapped, Director of Siloam Eye Hospital) in his message to the young recipients said, “When we focus and pray for our goals every day with the belief that we can do everything in those who give us power, there is an amazing miracle of victory in which impossibility becomes possible, despair turns into hope, and sorrow turns into joy.”

Mr. Kim Byeong-gyu (President of AMO, President of Siloam Medical Mission Association) in his speech said, “I see God’s ministry beautifully being carried out through Siloam. I hope that you, like Abraham, will keep God in awe, fear, and trembling and be the one whom God rejoices in.” The service for Hyo-myeong Scholarship Awards Ceremony was led by Lee Jung-won (Digital Book Team) with prayer by Elder Yu Ho-gwi (President of The Elders Press of Korea); progress report by Director Kim Mi-kyeong; congratulatory remarks by President Kim Byeong-gyu and Professor Gu Chul-hwe; performance by Angel’s Sound Trio; sermon and benediction by Rev.
